New Adult Learner Group
In October, we were thrilled to welcome would-be-brass players of all ages to our ‘Learn to Play’ events, under the umbrella of Music for All’s national initiative to get people into music, or back to music if they’ve played before and had a few years or decades off! One World Festival
We had a great afternoon at the One World Festival in High Lea Park on 5 July. We spoke to lots of children and adults with many having a go on instruments! If you missed us at the festival, don't worry... We are still looking for new junior players to join our Academy and will be putting on free sessions in August should your child wish to give it a go. NMB Juniors' Summer Performance
On 3 July our Junior Band and Junior Academy groups both treated us to performance to celebrate the end of the 2024/25 academic year. Beforehand we held an End of Year Party including refreshments, music related activities, and instruments available for all to try. Quizit New Mills
This week's Quizit New Mills quiz at New Mills Golf Club was in support of New Mills Band (1812). Five of our members took a break from rehearsal in order to represent the Band; our team "Those Magnificent Men" put in a heroic effort to finish in a very respectable second place! Many thanks to Quizit New Mills, and everyone who took part, for supporting the Band - in total £145 was raised for the Band!

NMB Juniors' Christmas Performance
On Thursday night our Junior Band and Junior Academy treated us to a wonderful Christmas performance at St George's Parish Hall. They have all worked so hard to get ready for the show and did so well on the night. Well done everybody - have a good Christmas and see you all in 2025! Adam at the Royal Albert Hall
Our Musical Director, Adam, played at the Royal Albert Hall on 27 November with the Xaverian College Orchestra - a great sixth form college in Manchester with the country's biggest A-level music department. royalalberthall.com/../2024/music-for-youth-proms At the college Adam teaches piano, runs a soul band, and helps out with the orchestra.

Thank You to Andy Bowers of Meridian Vehicle Sales
New Mills Band owes a massive thanks to Andy Bowers of Meridian Vehicle Sales for letting us store our instruments at his premises in Whaley Bridge for the last few years. Thanks to Andy, we've been able to keep a full set of instruments ready to loan free of charge to anyone who wants to play. We wish him a happy retirement, and our instruments a happy future in their new home!

National Brass Band Week: 6 - 14 July 2024
We had a fantastic National Brass Band Week, with an Open Evening at St George's Parish Church, and a stall at the One World Festival. We also took part in Proms in the Playground with visits to both New Mills Primary School and Newtown Primary School where we put on performances, and lots of children tried instruments!
